Aquaculture International, Inc., is a non-profit organization dedicated to the economically sound, environmentally compatable growth of the aquaculture industry through education, extension and the development of demonstration facilities. The founder and president is Charles W. Johnson who has been involved in aquaculture education and extension since 1971.

Aquaponics interest is increasing globally in response to more emphasis on resource management, sustainability and waste management. It involves combining of aquaculture and hydroponics for mutual benefit. The systems can be designed to be set up in almost any geographical area.
