Locust Lemonade B1
A few years ago a large Black Locust tree fell in my back yard. Rather than chop it up for firewood or send it off to the landfill, I decided to follow the advice: "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade". I began working my way down the trunk, cutting off sections and turning them into sculptures. This is the first in the series. The names of each piece in the series will reflect their positions in the tree. In this first piece, as with many of my other sculptures in recent years, I was experimenting with the feeling created by closely-spaced masses.

Anhinga
I did not have any representational intentions as I designed this sculpture, but when it was done, I saw birdlike qualities to the forms. With a bit of imagination, you can see the outstretched neck, upward-lifted wings, and the diving tail of an anhinga. This outdoor sculpture is constructed of brushed aluminum and stands about 7' tall.
