Built by David & Jean Day as their own family vacation place in the early 1970's, Lazy Days Guest Cabin is a rustic little vacation retreat nestled in the mountains of Western North Carolina with a magnificent view of Cattail Peak, Potato Hill, and Winter Star Ridge in the Black Mountain Range. The rush of Cattail Creek can be heard a couple hundred yards down Tennis Court Road. There's no longer a tennis court on Tennis Court Road, but Penny Park, with a picnic shelter, large grassy area, and playground equipment, is just a short walk up the road. The cabin has been recently renovated inside, and a utility room with washer and drier added. It sleeps six with two small bunk rooms and a master bedroom (linens and towels provided) -- ideal for a family with small children. A wood-burning Franklin Stove provides plenty of heat when needed in the cool of the evening. A small but well-equipped kitchen area includes a refrigerator/freezer, range, microwave, coffee maker, and toaster. Pots & pans, dishes, glasses, and tableware are provided, as well as paper towels and napkins. Most staples will also be found in the pantry cupboard. Located in Cattail Creek Community, about ten miles south of Burnsville, NC, Lazy Days Guest Cabin is within easy driving distance of many attractions: Mt. Mitchell, Grandfather Mountain, Roan Mountain, Linville Caverns, Linville Falls, Tweetsie Railroad, the Apple Orchard, mineral museums, Emerald Village, Biltmore Estate, Blowing Rock, the Blue Ridge Parkway, Chimney Rock, Ghost Town In The Sky, Little Switzerland, Mast General Store, the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad, white water rafting, trout fishing, golfing, and many more!
Since the cabin is small (just under 700 sq. ft.), and there's no TV (which may be a plus!), our rates are very reasonable: $250.00 per week (Saturday afternoon through Saturday morning). The cabin is available for your vacation pleasure May through September. It may also be available at other times providing there is no freeze (the water pipes are not protected).
