Native Ground Books & Music started in 1973 with a dream and a determination to present, preserve and teach Southern Appalachian music and cooking. Since then, the husband and wife team of Wayne Erbsen and Barbara Swell have worked hard to produce over thirty-five books and over twenty recordings. This body of work digs deep into a variety of American traditions including Southern Appalachian music and cooking and such themes as Civil War, pioneer, railroad, nature, cowboy, outlaw and gospel.
