StoryTraditions Hello, my name is Sylvia Payne. I grew up in the foothills of the North Carolina mountains listening to family stories told by my mother. A professional storyteller living in Newton, North Carolina, I offer multicultural folktales, stories of history, and North Carolina legends and stories that captivate adults, families, and students. I am a former children’s librarian who has organized and presented educational programs for over 25 years, and have studied folklore and the art of storytelling with world renowned storytelling masters. I currently serve on The Humanities Forum, a Speakers’ Bureau of the NC Humanities Council.
